A day behind, but great piece from Time magazine on Obama feigning populist outrage at AIG bonuses. As the days go on, we’re learning more and more about how much the Administration and Members of Congress knew about this plan. Some knew for days, weeks, months and possibly a year ago. Demanding answers and reprecussions is easy, but they aren’t worth much more than a soundbite. I like how Scherer describes it all as a soap-opera (in my column tomorrow, I actually compare it to now defunct NBC miniseries).
Obama and members of Congress are crying foul, even suggesting suicide for those taking $1-4 million bonuses. Stephen Colbert even attempted his best Jon Stewart by wielding a pitch fork on Monday’s broadcast and demanding the masses revolt.
It’s all words until we see action.
