During the fall of ‘08, President George W. Bush cancelled out-of-state events and in-town interviews left and right to focus on our nation’s economic woes. See ABC and FOX for a few examples.
How focused is President Obama on an economy that has only gotten worse? You should ask ESPN. Seems that even with more Americans losing their jobs, a failing stimulus plan and AIG’s massive bonuses the President had plenty of time to fill out his NCAA bracket on television. The cherry on top comes tomorrow when Obama appears on (drum roll please) The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. This economy must really be keeping him up at night!
To make matters worse, Obama says the Arizona Wildcats just “squeaked in” to the tourney. Now that’s just not cool. The Wildcats are in the big dance for the 25th straight season - pretty amazing if you ask me.
UPDATE: Coach K attacks! After hearing Duke wasn’t in Obama’s final four we get this gem: “the economy is something he should focus on more than the brackets.”
